What is VAT?

 

VAT (Value Added Tax) is a consumption tax imposed on goods and services at each stage of the supply chain. VAT is a significant revenue source for governments and a crucial consideration for businesses.

 

VAT Registration:

Once a business reaches a certain turnover threshold (£85,000), it is required to register for VAT. VAT registration involves applying to tax authorities and obtaining a unique VAT registration number. Registered businesses become VAT collectors and are responsible for charging, collecting, and paying VAT on eligible sales.

 

VAT-registered businesses have several obligations to fulfil. These are the responsibilities for a VAT-Registered Businesses:
